On Mo' Candy
"When Trevor returned from Singapore... he was fortunately able to secure the
services of a duo of Perth's finest, Bob Patient and Joe Whittle. The trio has
cemented itself as a unit, innovative, not only in choice of material, but
inspiring in their arrangements. They are now The Blues Club's first choice to
support and/or back the club's international acts. Mo' Candy are the brightest
light on the scene and are destined for international recognition."

Rick Steele
President ,
Perth Blues Club

About the band
Perth’s hip organ trio - Mo' Candy - cook up a swingin’ mix of Texas shuffles, New
Orleans funk, 60’s soul-jazz and gritty Chicago boogie. Arguably WA’s only
authentic Hammond trio, they have quickly built a reputation as one of Perth's
premier blues acts.

The engine behind Mo’ Candy is the inimitable Hammond organ style of
Bob
Patient.
A blues icon in his own right, Patient is one of Australia’s finest players
and regularly performs with international acts including Eugene “Hideaway”
Bridges and Dave Hole. His fat bass lines and thick chord-melody approach set
up the foundation for the trio’s unique sound.

Drummer extraordinaire
Joe Whittle is equally at home in the blues, jump, funk,
soul-jazz and hard bop idioms. He adds a groove that draws deep from the rich
history of African-American music, yet continues to push the band’s musical
boundaries with a contemporary sound and approach. Since graduating from
WAAPA, accolades include work with The Velvet Playboys, Jus’ Jump,
Awesome Wells and Les Miserables, to name a few.

Spearheading Mo’ Candy is the dynamic vocal and guitar style of
Trevor Jalla,
returning to Australia after 4 years in Singapore during which time he fronted
Universal Blues Band at the International Blues Challenge 2003 in Memphis,
Buddy Guy’s Legends in Chicago and The Byron Bay Blues & Roots Festival 2004.
His soul-blues vocals complement a hip guitar approach reminiscent of Albert
Collins, Jimmie Vaughan, Ronnie Earl and T-Bone Walker that is at once
authentic and refreshing.

Mo’ Candy are sure to satisfy even the most die-hard blues fans. Be sure to
catch the trio for a mo' better time!
